Bot or Not

ACM BPDC hosted an engaging and interactive event titled "Bot or Not," where participants put their auditory discernment to the test to see if they had "an ear for the real". Designed to challenge their ability to distinguish reality from artificial intelligence, the game focused entirely on audio analysis, challenging participants to identify whether sound clips were genuinely human or AI-generated.

Participants progressed through a series of audio-based questions, carefully listening to two different audio clips for each round. The diverse challenges spanned multiple categories, including everyday ambient sounds like "Birds Chirping", practical conversational scenarios like "Tech Support Audio", and creative media such as "A Rap". After listening closely, players had to trust their instincts and vote in a poll to decide if both clips were real, both were AI, or if only one specific clip was AI-generated.

Through this auditory challenge, ACM BPDC aimed to foster a deeper awareness of the rapidly evolving capabilities of generative AI in sound synthesis. The event delivered an entertaining blend of critical listening and technology education, creating a dynamic and interactive experience that encouraged students to question the authenticity of the digital media they consume.
