ACM Talk - Sumit Ranjan

ACM BPDC, in collaboration with the Computer Science Department, is organizing a workshop titled "Introduction to AI Agents: Build, Deploy, and Explore" on Thursday, 1st May 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in Room G34. This session will be conducted by Sumit Ranjan and is designed to provide a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to the world of Gen-AI agents. Participants will gain foundational knowledge and practical skills to build and deploy their own AI agents capable of automating tasks and making intelligent decisions.

The session will begin with an overview of what AI agents are, how they function, and their growing significance across industries. It will explore the architecture of AI agents, covering core components such as task initialization, reasoning, action execution, and feedback loops. Attendees will then be guided through building a basic single-step AI agent and progressively enhancing it to perform more complex, multi-step tasks. The workshop will also touch on real-world challenges including computational costs, error handling, and data security, followed by a discussion on best practices for effective agent development.

Open to all students and faculty, this interactive workshop provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in AI development. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to take part in the guided sessions. Certificates will be awarded to all attendees, and refreshments will be provided.
