About the Event
On the 8th and 9th of August 2026, ACM BPDC hosted an engaging two-day Instagram Story event titled Google Autocomplete, inspired by one of the internet's most familiar features, Google Search. The event challenged participants to predict the most commonly searched autocomplete suggestion for incomplete search queries, testing their intuition about online search trends and how people interacted with technology on a daily basis.
Throughout the event, participants were presented with incomplete search phrases along with four possible autocomplete options and voted for the one they believed was the most frequently searched using Instagram's interactive poll feature. The questions spanned a wide range of themes, including artificial intelligence, programming, startups, engineering student life, AI engineering, tech companies, internet culture, ChatGPT-related searches, and other fun, relatable topics. After each poll, the correct answer was revealed, offering participants fascinating insights into real-world search behavior and the trends shaping today's digital landscape.
Open to everyone, Google Autocomplete successfully combined entertainment with digital awareness by encouraging participants to think critically about online behavior while exploring the patterns behind everyday internet searches. Through this interactive and engaging format, ACM BPDC continued its mission of making technology accessible, enjoyable, and relevant, while fostering curiosity and participation across the student community.
